Implementation Structure

We will introduce the implementation structure for Next-Generation Well-Being: Building Integrated Human Measurement and Modeling Technology Aimed at Individual Adaptation.

Project implementation structure

Under the leadership of our university's President, this project will be overseen by President, two Vice President, and the dean of College of Science and Engineering, and the research support system in the administrative department will be strengthened. Public relations activities regarding the project and research results will be carried out by the Policy Planning Department and Research Support Department together with the faculty conducting the research. In addition, a full-time URA will be newly established in the Research Promotion Division to act as a bridge between industry, College of Science and Engineering, and academia, thereby supporting the smooth implementation of the project. Under this system, faculty members from the Faculty of Science and Technology and the College of Education, Psychology and Human Studies, who have research results and a track record of joint research in the fields of health and welfare, knowledge education, and skills training, and the administrative department will work together across the university to promote this project.
The research implementation structure will be a Measurement Division and an Individual Adaptation Division under the Research Director [Kumagaya] who will oversee the research. The Measurement Division will be composed of the Biomeasurement Group [Lopez, Nozawa] and the Motion Measurement Group [Matsumoto, Kurihara], which will be made up of the faculty members mainly consisting of the core members listed below. The Individual Adaptation Division will be composed of the Modeling Group [Kumagaya, Komiyama] and the Individual Adaptation Group [Sakuta, Yakushigami]. In addition, in order to facilitate collaboration between groups, which is essential for the promotion of the project, members of other groups will participate in each group to share information and collaborate on research. The core members of the faculty of this project have published unique research both in Japan and overseas, and in the past five years have actively conducted research, publishing 74 research papers related to this project, presenting 71 overseas presentations, and obtaining 7 patents, as well as acquiring 36 external funding projects totaling 55.26 million yen.

Core members:
? College of Science and Engineering Department of Industraial and Engineering: Kumagai, Matsumoto, Kurihara
?Department College of Science and Engineering Department of Integrated information technology: Komiyama, Sakuta, Lopez
? College of Science and Engineering Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics: Nozawa
? College of Education, Psychology and Human Studies Department of Psychology: Yakushigami

Furthermore, these core member groups will be joined by faculty members from each faculty (4 people), young researchers (11 assistant professors), and graduate students (16 people) to promote this project. The faculty members participating in this project will work with young researchers to tackle new technical issues to achieve the project's objectives, based on knowledge gained from previous research in the fields of information engineering, industrial engineering, and psychology. In addition, with regard to young researchers and graduate students, the project aims to foster them through technical exchanges and synergy effects, and the young researchers as well as the core members will take the initiative in holding regular research meetings and presentations.

An external evaluation committee will be established to evaluate the progress and results of this project from the perspectives of local government, industry, and academia. The external evaluation committee members include Sagamihara City, OH Co., Ltd., Arch Giken Co., Ltd., ARS Co., Ltd., WIN Frontier Co., Ltd., Professor Morikawa (University of Tokyo), and Associate Professor Kawahara (Open University). Additionally, an internal evaluation committee will be organized within the university to evaluate from a third-party perspective, and will conduct an examination together with the external evaluation committee at the end of each fiscal year. The direction of the project will be improved based on the results of this examination.

In this project, Aoyama Gakuin University University will play a central role, and local governments, companies, and domestic universities will work together to spread the results of research to the region, educational institutions, and industry. The regional expansion will apply to Sibuya Ward and Sagamihara City, where Aoyama Gakuin University 's campuses are located, and to the surrounding areas, in the fields of health and welfare, and skills training. The expansion to educational institutions will apply to the fields of knowledge education, health and welfare, targeting the Open University of Japan and Kitasato University. The expansion to industry will apply to the fields of health and welfare, knowledge education, and skills training, targeting about five companies, including OEI and WIN Frontier. Furthermore, the expansion overseas will be promoted through joint research with Jean Monnet University (France), University of Oulu (Finland), and Hradec Kralove University (Czech Republic) in the fields of knowledge education and health and welfare.
