Educational and research objectives
Department of International Communication aims to develop talented individuals who can theoretically study various aspects of communication phenomena while also being able to actually communicate smoothly with people of other cultures.
Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree Awarding)
■ Knowledge and skills
Possess specialized knowledge in the field of international communication (particularly in the three areas of language, culture, and communication) and high level of language proficiency, which are necessary to be active in the international community.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students have the ability to take a global perspective and correctly understand, logically consider, and accurately analyze various issues arising in the international community (particularly issues related to mutual understanding between humans and human organizations that are based on language, culture, etc.) from the perspective of international communication, and to take action to resolve them.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Possess the motivation, interest, and attitude to cooperate and collaborate with people around the world as members of the international community.
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
Department of International Communication has established an educational curriculum to ensure that students acquire the following academic abilities by the time they graduate. From the second year, an "International Communication Course" is established, which provides a consistent educational program according to a model course plan that focuses on language, culture, and communication.
■ "International Communication Course"
In order to acquire the specialized knowledge of international communication necessary to play an active role in the international community, we offer subjects related to specialized knowledge in the three fields of language, culture, and communication, and arrange them as department-specific subjects (basic subjects (Group A) and advanced subjects (Group B)).
The course offers specialized subjects (basic subjects (Group A) and advanced subjects (Group B)) and specialized seminars) to equip students with the ability to correctly understand, logically consider, and accurately analyze issues arising in the international community (particularly issues related to mutual understanding between humans and human organizations that are based on language, culture, etc.) from a global perspective and from the standpoint of international communication, and to take action to resolve these issues.
In order to equip students with the ability (including high language skills) to cooperate and collaborate with people around the world as members of the international community, foreign language subjects (Group A (English), Group B (foreign language other than English), Group C (foreign language other than English or English)) are systematically arranged and small-group participation seminars are offered throughout the four years of study (introductory seminars in the first year, pre-seminars in the second year, and specialized seminars in the third and fourth years).
