| Introduction to cutting-edge life science | In the decade around the year 2000, life sciences made great strides and came to have the power to shake the world to its very core. It is no longer possible to live in developed countries without being involved in life sciences. This lecture will introduce and explain the main topics. |
| Genomics | In 2003, the human genome was decoded, revealing approximately 3 billion DNA base sequences. For a microorganism, it is now possible to decode the entire genome in one week. In this course, we will start with the basics of DNA research methods, and learn about the control of transcription and translation, and genome evolution. |
