STUDY ABROAD Study Abroad Guide

Deepen your understanding of French literature and improve your communication skills

Study in France

Our university has an exchange program with the Applied Language Training Center of the National Marie-Louis Pasteur University (formerly known as the University of Franche-Comté), which is known worldwide for its French language education for foreigners. Every year, a dozen students from Department of French Language and Literature study abroad, working hard to improve their language skills with students from all over the world. In addition, in 2005, we also launched an exchange program with the University of Paris III. This opens up the possibility for students who are confident in their language skills to pursue specialized studies with French students of the same generation. In addition, there is a system of accredited schools for students who wish to study abroad on their own.

Language study abroad

Many students wish to study abroad to improve their communication skills. Of the two partner schools mentioned above, Marie & Louis Pasteur University is the one that accepts such students. Marie & Louis Pasteur University, located in Besan?on in eastern France, offers a very fulfilling educational and living environment, and every year international students return home with excellent results.
Furthermore, once the credits acquired locally are approved, they will be counted towards the graduation requirements of our university. If you study abroad in your third year, you can graduate in four years without having to repeat a year.

Study Abroad at Partner Universities

Every year, a dozen students from Department of French Language and Literature use the exchange student program to study at our university's partner universities. Currently, we have eight partner universities in French-speaking countries (including Switzerland):

  • Group Groupe EDH
  • Grenoble Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Grenoble of Political Sciences
  • Center for Applied Linguistics, Marie and Louis Pasteur University (CLA - Université Marie et Louis Pasteur)
  • University of Paris III
  • University of Pau (Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour)
  • Université  Jean Monnet (Saint-?tienne)
  • Université de Tours
  • Université de Genéve

When studying abroad at these partner universities, the credits earned abroad can be counted towards the graduation requirements of our university, making it possible to study in a French-speaking country for an entire year (or semester) without having to repeat the year.

Accredited school study abroad

In the case of "accredited school study abroad," as in the case of "agreement school study abroad," the credits acquired at the host university can be counted as graduation credits at our university. However, in this system, all procedures must be completed by the student himself/herself. (In addition, tuition fees must be paid to both our university and the host university.)
Currently, there are three schools in France that are accredited by our university:
