Overview and Objectives of the Institute

The Community Activities Research Institute, attached College of Community Studies, opened in April 2019, at the same time as College of Community Studies was established.

The Community Activities Research Institute is College of Community Studies and aims to promote educational and research activities in a variety of fields related to community activities, mainly in education and sociology, as well as to foster collaboration among these research fields and to promote education and research in conjunction with activities in various regions across the country.

To achieve this goal, we will engage in the following activities:
(1) Planning, application and operation of educational and research projects
(2) Planning and implementation of academic exchanges
(3) Joint research with external organizations and commissioned research and surveys
(4) Promoting activities in local communities and cooperation with local communities
(5) Collection, organization, storage and provision of related books and materials
(6) Publication of research results such as research journals and reports

In 2021, the Community Activities Research Institute will establish a research center with the aim of forming an academic foundation for "community activities research." Long-term basic research projects We have proposed to establish the following.
Starting in 2023, we will undertake one or two educational and research projects each year.

[Project Overview]
The purpose of this project is to clarify what changes will occur in the community and what educational benefits will be gained from university students participating in community development as "related populations" in Tsujimata, Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. By actually revitalizing the mountainous region, students themselves will be provided with an opportunity to further deepen their learning in College of Community Studies.

[Project Overview]
We will hold the "Nasu English Seminar" in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, to provide learning opportunities that combine English education with nature experiences and interactions with the local community. Through this seminar, we aim to promote interaction with the Nasu Town Planning Plaza and the Nasu region, explore the possibility of establishing a research base, and conduct research into English education that deepens understanding of the region.
