Educational and research objectives and three policies

We would like to introduce the educational and research objectives, educational policy, and three policies of Department of Cultural and Creative Studies Graduate School of Cultural and Creative Studies Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate School.

Educational and research objectives

Department of Cultural and Creative Studies aims to train researchers, university professors, and highly specialized leaders in relevant fields who have cutting-edge research and development capabilities related to all aspects of cultural and artistic creation.

Three Policies

  • Diploma Policy (Policy for Completion Certification and Awarding of Degrees)

    ■ Knowledge and skills
    Students have acquired advanced and broad-ranging academic expertise in the fields of humanities, arts, and policy management, and the ability to conduct original research and development.

    ■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
    They have acquired the logical and creative thinking skills to deepen their research, the judgment skills to apply various academic disciplines, the ability to express themselves persuasively and publicize the results of their research, and the ability to make policy proposals through development.

    ■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
    They have acquired a sense of mission, responsibility, and ethics as researchers and professional leaders who are able to appropriately and fully utilize the above knowledge and skills.

  • Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)

    The five-year, ten-semester program guides students in writing their doctoral dissertation and obtaining their degree. The course consists of the selection of a research supervisor (2nd semester), a promotion qualification exam (4th semester), a research plan review (6th semester), an interim report (8th semester), a final report review, a doctoral dissertation review, and a final exam (10th semester). Three research exercises and six research guidances are arranged here to ensure that students develop the ability to acquire specialized knowledge and the ability to use it to carry out original research and development. General courses are structured in a two-tiered structure: a group of basic subjects to acquire the methodology necessary to advance research and development activities that integrate the humanities and social sciences, and a group of specialized subjects that cover policy management and cultural and artistic research. Through these guidances, students simultaneously develop a sense of mission, responsibility, and ethics as researchers and specialized leaders.

  • Admission Policy

    ■ Knowledge and skills
    Possess basic specialist knowledge equivalent to a university graduate in a related academic field, such as the humanities, arts, policy science, or management.

    ■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
    They have the basic thinking and judgment skills to master academic methodology, and the ability to express themselves accurately and publicly present the results of their learning and consideration.

    ■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
    Students have the motivation to appropriately and fully utilize the advanced academic knowledge and skills they have acquired in this department, and to contribute to the future of humanity and the international community as researchers and professional leaders.
