Three Policies
We would like to introduce the educational and research objectives and three policies of Department of French Language and Literature, Aoyama Gakuin University College of Literature.
Educational and research objectives
Department of French Language and Literature aims to develop talented individuals who, through the study of French language, literature, linguistics, and philosophy, will acquire broad-based knowledge and in-depth specialized knowledge in the humanities, while at the same time possessing sound judgment and rich humanity, thereby contributing broadly to the advancement of culture.
POLICY Three Policies
Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree Awarding)
■ Knowledge and skills
?Has acquired basic skills to use French.
- Possess a broad range of knowledge, especially basic knowledge of French language, literature and culture.
- Have acquired basic research methods in the humanities.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students will be able to tackle issues related to language, literature, and culture in the French-speaking world and present the results in an organized and persuasive manner in either Japanese or French.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
They have a strong desire to give back to society at large the knowledge and skills they have gained through the study and research of French language, literature, and culture.
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
■ Knowledge and skills
- Acquire practical French language skills through French courses in the department.
- Deepen your knowledge of various academic fields through The Aoyama Standard subjects, Faculty of College of Literature common subjects, departmental lectures and seminars, etc.
- Acquire basic skills to research, think about, and express knowledge about French language, literature, and culture.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students will study various issues related to language, literature, and culture in French-speaking countries in departmental lectures, seminars, and graduation theses, and be able to express the results of their studies in an organized and persuasive manner in either Japanese or French.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Students will take lectures and seminars according to their individual interests, and will proactively engage in learning and research on French-speaking languages, literature, and cultures. They will also develop an attitude of constantly questioning the social significance of their learning and research.
Admission Policy
■ Knowledge and skills
Possesses knowledge equivalent to that of a high school graduate in subjects such as Japanese language, foreign language, geography, and history studied at high school.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
- Have problem-solving ability based on the above knowledge.
?Be able to read a text, accurately grasp its content, and then express one's own thoughts on it in an organized manner.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Have an interest in French language, literature and culture and a desire to learn more about them.
