Quality Assurance of Statistics Education Contributing to Cultivating Data-Based Problem-Solving Talent

Business Overview

To promote future innovation in Japan, it is essential to have human resources who are capable of discovering new problems on their own and solving them through quantitative thinking based on data. One important skill for identifying and solving problems is the "ability to look at things statistically and perform statistical analysis," which is necessary for both humanities and science students. Therefore, many universities, not only in developed Western countries but also in Korea and China, have established statistics departments to develop human resources with problem-solving abilities through systematic statistical education. From the perspective of international competitiveness, it is also an urgent task for Japan to further improve systematic statistical education at universities.
In this initiative, we will organize a new "Statistics Education Inter-University Collaboration Network" among our partner universities, develop standard curriculum content and teaching methods for cultivating problem-solving talent, and establish a system for evaluating the effectiveness of education through an evaluation committee that includes external organizations such as statistical-related academic societies and industry groups, thereby establishing a quality assurance system for statistics education.
