Leaflet: "Request for consideration for transgender students"
The Center for Gender Studies often receives inquiries and consultations about gender from students. Regrettably, these inquiries have recently begun to include cases of faculty members making discriminatory or exclusionary remarks about transgender people.
In order to put a stop to transgender discrimination and exclusion in educational institutions and protect students, it is essential that each and every faculty member has the appropriate knowledge, is considerate about what they say during lectures, and provides students with educational opportunities that foster appropriate understanding.
The Center for Gender Studies has therefore produced a leaflet to help teachers deepen their understanding of transgender issues, explaining some of the common questions and considerations they come across.
This leaflet was distributed to all faculty members at the end of the 2023 academic year. In addition, the Japanese and English PDF versions are available on this page for anyone to view.
We hope that this leaflet will help create a safe and secure learning environment for all students enrolled at our university.
