On September 19, 2025, Stanford University and Elsevier updated and published a comprehensive list identifying the top 2% of scientists in the world, the "Database of Scientists Based on Standardized Citation Indices (Updated)," and 13 scientists from Aoyama Gakuin University were ranked in the "career-long" category and 6 scientists in the "single recent year" category.

This list, based on information from Scopus (a literature database), includes scientists worldwide who have published at least five papers in 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields.
This list features scientists ranked in the top 2% based on a combination of indicators including total citations (excluding self-citations), h-index, number of single-authored papers, and number of individually cited papers.
