TITLE
The "Maclay Memorial Hall" (Library and Information Media Center) opens.
As part of Aoyama 150th Anniversary Commemorative Project, the "Maclay Memorial Hall" library building opened in this momentous year marking Aoyama 's 150th anniversary.
The facility is named in honor of Robert S. MacRae, the first Chancellor of Aoyama 's "Bikai Seminary," one of its three origins. It is a comprehensive academic information facility that brings together the main library, which boasts a collection of approximately 1.5 million books, the Information Media Center, and even the Academic Writing Center, all in one building.
The basement and first floors are dedicated to information and learning, while the second through sixth floors are library floors. The information and learning floors are designed as spaces for "encountering knowledge," providing computer labs relevant to all students, as well as facilities for learning languages and cutting-edge ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The second through fourth floors of the library are designed as places for "expanding knowledge," offering not only individual reading of literature but also learning commons where students can learn from each other. The fifth and sixth floors provide specialized literature and research rooms for "deepening knowledge," as well as presentation rooms that can accommodate online meetings with external parties, offering an environment for more specialized learning and discussion.
