Tuition exemptions and reductions
Our university mainly implements the following tuition fee reduction systems.
New higher education support system
Aoyama Gakuin University University is a target school for the "New System of Support for Higher Education (Grant Scholarships + Tuition Reductions, etc.)" which was launched in the 2020 academic year.
*You can receive both a Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) grant scholarship and a university tuition exemption at the same time, depending on the support category.
<To all current students>
In principle, information regarding applications and recruitment for this program will be provided through the Aoyama Gakuin University Student Portal.
Applicants should refer to the recruitment information posted on the university website and student portal before applying. Please be sure to check the information frequently.
<To all new students and prospective students>
Even if you apply for this program while still a high school student and are a reserved candidate, you will still need to pay the admission fee, etc., when completing the enrollment process. After your enrollment at our university is confirmed and your support category is determined, we will waive or exempt your admission fee and tuition, and refund the difference.
You can also apply after enrollment.
Both those who have applied for the reserved position and those who are applying in the future should refer to the information posted on the university website and the Aoyama Gakuin University Student Portal (accessible after enrollment) and carry out the necessary procedures. Please be sure to check the information frequently.
◆ Amount of Grant (annual) (All faculties)
*The annual income shown in the table is only a guideline. This does not apply if you have other business income.
*If your classification changes during the fiscal year, the amount of exemption and benefit will change.
*The admission fee reduction is only valid for applications made in the first semester of the year of enrollment.
*Classes I to IV are based on household income.
(For assistance categories, please use the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship funding simulation below to estimate your assistance costs.)

<For those already employed by 2025>

You will not be able to receive tuition reductions or exemptions for semesters prior to the time you are accepted into this program.
In the detailed file under "5. Support recipients," please carefully check the "Resident tax assessment information used for assessment" according to the time of application, and be careful not to miss the application period.
2. Amount of reduction/exemption
*Please note that this is not a system that will make all tuition and fees free.

3. Payment of tuition fees for the first semester
[New Students]
Since you have paid the first semester tuition and admission fee at the time of enrollment, we will refund the amount of the exemption according to the support category after you are selected.
*For those who have paid the full year's tuition fees in one lump sum at the time of enrollment, the tuition fee reduction for the second semester will be refunded according to the support category once the support category for the second semester is determined.
[Current students]
<For those who wish to apply for the 2026 academic year>
Only those who apply for enrollment starting in April will be able to defer payment of tuition fees until the results of their enrollment are announced. (*) If you apply for enrollment starting in May or later, the prescribed tuition fees will be transferred to your account on the first semester tuition payment deadline (early June), and if you are accepted, the amount of the exemption or reduction according to your support category will be refunded.
*If you apply in April, your acceptance will generally be decided in July, but the period during which you can defer payment of the first semester tuition fee will be until the first semester regular exam period. Please note that if your acceptance is postponed in July, you will need to pay the full first semester tuition fee.
<For those already employed by 2025>
Tuition fees, minus the amount of the exemption based on your current support category, will be transferred to your account on the payment due date (early June).
