Thesis Review Criteria

[Master's thesis review criteria]

(Master's degree application thesis)
The master's thesis submitted by the degree applicant will be reviewed by one chief examiner and two co-examiners, and will be examined orally to determine whether the candidate has passed or failed. Based on the following criteria, a grade of C or above on a 5-point scale will be considered a pass.
(1) The purpose and significance of the research must be clearly stated.
(2) Sufficient research and examination of previous studies related to the research topic has been conducted.
(3) The research methods are appropriate in light of the research objectives.
⑷ The development of the argument, including the issue raised, analysis, results, and discussion, must be consistent and relevant.
(5) The argument, including the use of notes, figures, tables, and materials, should be accurate and well-structured as a paper.
(6) The paper must be original and contain new findings.
AA: It is an excellent master's thesis.
A: It is a good master's thesis.
B: Although there are some problems, it is generally a good master's thesis.
C: There are many issues that need to be improved, but it will be recognized as a master's thesis.
XX: The thesis is not deemed to meet the standards of a master's thesis.
 
(Results of research on a specific topic)
(1) The research topic must be clearly and appropriately defined.
(2) Research and analysis of previous studies, collection and analysis of materials, etc. have reached a certain level.
3) The Japanese writing is at a level sufficient to persuade the reader.

Doctoral dissertation examination criteria:

The doctoral thesis submitted by the degree applicant will be reviewed by one chief examiner, two co-examiners, and one external co-examiner in accordance with the following review criteria, and then examined through a final examination (oral examination). The results will then be submitted as an "Examination Report" to the Graduate Graduate School of Literature Doctoral Program Committee, which will then vote on whether or not to award the degree to the applicant.
(1) The purpose and significance of the research must be clearly stated.
(2) Sufficient research and examination of previous studies related to the research topic has been conducted.
(3) The research methods are appropriate in light of the research objectives.
⑷ The development of the argument, including the issue raised, analysis, results, and discussion, must be consistent and relevant.
(5) The argument, including the use of notes, figures, tables, and materials, should be accurate and well-structured as a paper.
(6) The paper must be of academic value and contribute to the advancement of research.
(7) In addition to satisfying the above criteria, the candidate is recognized as having the ability and knowledge to independently conduct research activities in the relevant field and engage in specialized work.
