Type and arrangement of courses (type of course/year of study/sequence of study)
Type of Course
Each course is divided into three categories according to whether or not it is a required subject for graduation.
| Required Subjects | Required courses to earn credits |
| Elective compulsory subjects | Students must select from a number of designated courses and earn the required number of credits for each faculty and department. |
| Elective Courses | Courses that students can freely select and take to earn the required number of credits |
As you can see from the above, when taking courses, you should give priority to "compulsory subjects" in order to meet the graduation requirement credits.
Depending on the period during which classes are offered, they are divided into "year-round courses" that are held throughout the year, "semester courses" that are completed in the first or second semester, and "intensive lecture courses" that are held during summer or winter holidays, etc.
Year of study
"Year of study" refers to the academic year in which it is desirable to take each course. Years of study are determined based on the curriculum so that students can study systematically over four years.
The course years are listed in the curriculum table, so please follow that to take the courses.
As a general rule, you cannot take courses that are placed in a grade higher than your current grade, but you can take courses that are placed in a grade lower than your current grade. However, there are exceptions, so please check the "Course Guide (Course Enrollment Guide)."
Course sequence
Each faculty and department has courses that have a "course order" that allows students to progress through their studies in stages. This means that if you do not earn credits for a certain course, you cannot take a course that is set up as a higher-level course.
Advanced courses assume that students have already mastered the content of beginner courses, and begin at the next level. Therefore, students cannot take beginner and advanced courses at the same time. However, for students who are repeating their fourth year, depending on the faculty or department, they may be able to take courses regardless of the order in which they are taken.
The order of courses to take for each faculty and department is stated in the Course Guide.
