Symposium G-4 at the Materials Research Meeting (MRM2025) held at Pacifico Yokohama on December 8~13, 2025; In Inorganic Thin Films for Sustainable Applications: From Material Design to Devices, Nanase Takahashi of Yuzo Shigesato Laboratory, a second-year doctoral student in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering Functional Materials Creation Course, presented TM4OE Best Gold in the Presentation Award, Silver in the Silver Award for Aoyama Mimu, a first-year doctoral student in the same laboratory, and Mana Shibata and Akihiro Murakami for the TM4OE Encouragement Award.

Research on inorganic thin films with advanced functions has attracted attention as fundamental research to realize a sustainable society by contributing to the improvement of energy efficiency in various advanced devices and structural materials. The research presentations by these graduate students were highly evaluated by renowned judges in Japan and abroad for their originality, academic significance, usefulness for practical application, validity of logical construction, abundance of data such as advanced structure and composition control and structural analysis results, and ease of understanding of presentations in English.

MRM2025 attracted over 1,700 registered participants from approximately 40 countries, and featured around 1,600 research presentations on a variety of materials.
The field of materials science has long been said to be on the eve of a revolution, driven by advancements in innovative experimental techniques, first-principles calculations, AI, and informatics. This conference has made it clear that we are indeed in the midst of that revolution.
In this context, the graduate students' research findings have been recognized as contributing to the innovative development of materials science.
